PREPARED CHICKEN CURRY


This is a traditional chicken recipe. It is one such delicious recipes that goes well with rice and bread. Impress your guest with this mouthwatering chicken curry. I prepare this curry almost every week this is simple and delicious curry to try.


INGREDIENTS

  • Chicken -1 pound
  • Onion- 1 big sliced
  • tomato-1 big sliced
  • red chilli powder- 1 teaspoon
  • coriander powder - 2 teaspoon
  • garam masala-1/2 teaspoon
  • ginger garlic paste - 2 teaspoon
  • green chili(optional)- 2 whole
  • oil-2 tablespoon
To grind
  • coconut- 2 tablespoon grated or sliced
  • poppy seeds- 1/2 teaspoon
  • fennel seeds -1/2 teaspoon
  • cumin seeds - 1teaspoon
Spices for tempering
  • cloves -4
  • bay leaf - 1
  • cinnamon - 2 inch stick
  • cardamom pods-3
  • star anise- 1 
METHOD

PREP TIME- 30 MINS
  1. Pour oil in a pan, once it is hot, add the spices such as bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, star anise. Fry them until they are brown, do not burn them as the spices might turn bitter
  2. Now add the sliced onions, saute well until they are translucent.Add the two green chili and ginger garlic paste and sautee for few seconds.
  3. Add the chill powder, coriander powder to the sauteed onions and fry them for few seconds
  4. Now add the sliced tomatoes, cook them until they turn mushy.
  5. Its time to add the chicken pieces and salt to taste. I recommend using chicken with bones on, for more flavor and thats how traditionally it is cooked.
  6. meanwhile in a blender add the coconut, poppy seeds, cumin, fennel seeds grind them to a fine paste by adding some water.
  7. Add to the chicken with half a cup of water and cook it for 20 minutes until the chicken is cooked thoroughly
  8. Now add a teaspoon of garam masala and cook for another 5 minutes. check for salt and adjust accordingly. switch off the stove.
  9. Garnish the aromatic chicken curry with cilantro while serving.
Note
  • always cook curry in a medium flame
  • do not burn the ingredients. 
  • Go for mild to moderate heat chilli powder available in the indian aisle.
