PEPPER CHICKEN CURRY

Yum

This is a spicy version of chicken curry. I learned from my mom and it tastes flavorful and different from regular chicken gravy, the black pepper is the only ingredient used for the hotness in this curry.
Simple and easy pepper chicken curry.

chicken with bones - 1 pound (1/2 kg)
onion - 1 big
tomatoes - 1 big
ginger garlic paste- 2 teaspoon
coriander powder - 2 teaspoon
turmeric- 1/2 teaspoon
oil - 2 tablespoon
salt to taste

To grind you will need
onion - a small cube sized portion
coconut grated/sliced - 1 tablespoon
whole black pepper - 1 teaspoonful
cumin- 1 teaspoon
fennel seeds- 1/2 teaspoon
cloves- 3
cinnamon - 1 inch stick

PREP TIME: 10 MINS                   COOKING TIME: 30 MINS

blended spice mixture

Heat the pan, pour the oil. Saute the onions on a medium flame until it turns soft and transparent. Add the tomatoes and ginger garlic paste to it with little salt to make the cooking process fast, cook until the tomatoes turns mushy this usually takes about 7 to 10 minutes. Now add the chicken, mix well and add the coriander powder, turmeric with some salt. Meanwhile in a blender add all the ingredients as mentioned in the list above. Blend it to a fine mixture as shown in the picture. Add them to the chicken, now close the lid and cook the chicken for around 20 mins in medium heat. If you feel the curry is too thick add a quarter cup of warm water and cook again for 5 mins. Most cases water is not necessary as the chicken will ooze some water while cooking.  This is simple and quick recipe, goes well with steamed rice, bread or naan. I served this curry for brunch with steamed rice and fries.

Note:
You can increase or decrease the amount of black pepper are per your preference.
