How to cook cornish hen curry
Yum
Cornish hen are small and they are little expensive than the regular chicken. These are particular breed of chicken which are smaller in size, in U.S they are referred to as hybrid chicken. What is special about these cornish hen avaiable in grocery stores in united states?. I want to give it a try to find out the diffference between these cornish hen and the regular hen in terms of taste and texture. So i bought this rock cornish game hen from the grocery store ALDI.
Noticingly these are half the size of a regular chicken, less in fat, weighted around 2 pounds. I cut them into peices to make an indian style cornish hen curry. Marinated the chicken with salt and a half a teaspoon turmeric powder while i saute the rest of the ingredients.
Observations
Cornish hen takes the same time to cook as the regular chicken
They tasted just like the regular chicken with less fat.

Heat a pot, pour the oil, once hot add the spices listed under tempering. Then add the ginger garlic paste, fry for few seconds, add the sliced onions, wait until it turns transparent. To this add the tomatoes and wait till it turns mushy, takes about 10 mins. Now add the spice powder such as the red chili, coriander, cumin powder. Saute for about 5 mins, then add the cornish hen pieces. Mix well with the gravy. Close the lid and let it cook for about 10 mins, until it absorbs the spices and flavor. Now add the garam masala and pepper powder. Cook the cornish hen for 10 mins. Meanwhile in a blender add the listed ingredients under grind and make them to a fine paste. After 10 mins, pour the blended mixture to the curry, mix well and allow them to cook for another 10mins. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with your favorite bread or steamed rice. The curry tasted absolutely great with the perfect blend of all the spices, a must try recipe but i can't deny the fact that it tastes exactly like a regular chicken!onion - 2 sliced thin
