Underweight toddlers? Here is ten simple things to do to increase weight.
Babies grow fast, by the time they enter into toddler stage you may find lot of changes both physically and emotionally. Here is ten simple steps to make them gain weight if they are underweight.
- Mothers milk contain more fat, if your child is still breastfed, then you may continue breast feeding as breast milk contains more fat than cows milk.
- If you are into weaning, introduce full fat milk as toddler need fat for their brain development. You can dilute milk only if you think your toddler is constipated due to cows milk.
- Add full fat cream to mashed potatoes. Add olive oil to boiled broccoli and carrots. Prepare pasta with milk and cheese.
- Give your toddler at least one feed of full fat yogurt or full fat cheese.
- Make scrambled eggs with milk, cheese and little butter or olive oil.
- After one year, you can slowly introduce nuts. Try to feed them a spoonful of peanut butter or almond butter over a toast
- Fishes are filled with good fats, try to give them at least 2 to 3 serving of fishes per week, some of the fishes like wild caught salmon, sardines, trout, mackerel, kingfish, porgies.
- Encourage your toddler to be physically active, as this might help them to eat more to compensate their lost energy.
- Add oils like olive oil, coconut oil, ghee instead of butter to their diet everyday
- Add avocados, banana, pumpkin, potatoes, lentils, brown rice to their everyday menu.
