Naatu Kozhi Biryani|Country chicken biryani

How about making them to as a biryani which is even more tastier of all. This is one such biryani recipe with explosion of flavors when it blends with the perfect amount of spices. Cook this biryani the way i cooked i'm sure your family will not forget to impress you in return.

Moreover country chicken or hard chicken is much healthier and has tons of health benefits. why not to prepare something that is delicious and healthy?


Country Chicken - 1 kilogram 

For marinating the chicken
curd - 3 tablespoons
turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
salt - 2 teaspoon


basmatic rice/seeraga samba rice/kaljeera- 2.5 cups

for 2.5 cups of rice add 4 cups of warm water when cooking the biryani.

Oil/ghee - 5 tablespoon
whole spices( bay leaf, cinnamom stick, cardamon pods, star anise, cloves) - handful
cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
fennel seeds - 1 teaspoon
ginger garlic paste - 3 tablespoon
whole green chilis - 5

Onion- 1 big sliced
Tomatoes - 3 finely chopped
mint leaves - handful
coriander leaves - handful
biryani masala - 3 teaspoons red chili powder - 2 teaspoon
coriander and cumin powder -2 teaspoon

lemon juice - 3 tablespoon
ghee - 4 tablespoon




This is one of the famous madurai special nattu kozhi biryani or country chicken biryani, country chicken tends to be little hard compared to regular chicken , so I have marinated the chicken with curd overnight which softens and makes it more flavorful. Country chicken takes little time to cook compared to regular chicken but once its cooked you will taste the best biryani which is more flavorful and healthy. adjust the heat and spice level as per your taste.
