Bombay/ Karachi halwa

Corn flour halwa is popularly known as bombay or karachi halwa is an indian desert which is soft, chewy and melt in your mouth made with sugar, ghee and flavored with cardamom powder




 Corn flour - 1 cup
water - 1 cup
sugar - 1.5 cup
cardamom powder - 1 teaspoon
mixed nuts - 1/2 cup
ghee - half cup
food color (optional)

This is easy to make halwa to satisfy your sweet tooth. The halwa is chewy and nutty with all the nuts yet simple to make.

In a bowl add the corn flour, pour the water and make a slurry out of it, looks more like a milk. Now heat a pan, preferably a non stick wok or a pan which makes the process even more easier, i have used a steel wok for this. Add one cup of sugar and then half cup of water, when the sugar syrup comes to a boil, now add the corn flour slurry to this and start stirring to avoid lumps, to this add the food color of your choice and then the ghee little by little as shown in the video. keep the heat on medium and stir continuously unil thickens, meanwhile adding the ghee in between. Now add the nuts and keep stirring. Once you get the desired consistency, switch off the stove and transfer the halwa in a greased container , sprinkle some more nuts. Once the halwa cools down completely cut as desired shape and serve.
